Just before heading to the Kiev Major, Invictus Gaming claimed one more LAN presence by winning early this morning the Zotac Cup Chinese qualifiers.

The Chinese qualifiers for Zotac Cup kicked off this Monday with twelve teams split into two groups of six, all battling in a bo1 round robin. Top two from each group advanced into the single elimination playoffs bracket where all the games were best-of-three with bo5 grand finals. Invictus Gaming got seeded in Group B along with the likes of VG.J, LGD Forever Young and CDEC Gaming. They had an almost perfect run through the group stage, finishing on the second spot after dropping just one match to CDEC Gaming. Once they reached the playoffs, IG had to fight Vici Gaming in the first round of the bracket and took down Wong 'ChuaN' Hock Chuan and co in less than 20 minutes in the first game. The second game of the series, although it had an almost similar draft coming out from IG, lasted a little bit over 60 minutes.

In what might be a preview of what we should expect from IG in Kiev, through the entire qualifier playoffs for Zotac Cup, Ye 'BoBoKa' Zhibiao played four Treant Protector games, out of the six total matches, the other two games choosing to stick with his famous by now Monkey King. In the best-of-five grand finals from this morning, iG had to face off against their sister team, iG Vitality and claimed the tickets to Taipei, Taiwan after a 3 -1 swipe.

Although the series had an exciting 81 minutes game three, where iG Vitality managed to push for a game four, the spotlight is going once again on Xu 'BurNIng' Zhilei who surprised his adversaries with a fighting Anti Mage in the last game. iG went with a heavy pushing lineup consisting of Tinker, Jakiro and Sand King, and although they had the late game scenario in their pocket, with BurNIng’s Anti Mage, the B-God went with an unusual spell and item build. Brown boots, Hand of Midas, Vanguard and a 4-4-1-0 spell build allowed him to keep up with the game’s fast pace and to claim the only one spot available for the Chinese region at the Zotac Cup LAN finals.

Zotac Cup is the first event organized for Dota 2 by the computer hardware company. The LAN playoffs will be taking place in Taipei, Taiwan from May 30 to the 3rd of June. A total of eight participants will fight for the $100,000 prize pool, six of them being decided via regional qualifiers while two teams will be granted a direct invite. As of yet, Invictus Gaming is the second team to qualify for Zotac Cup, Cloud 9 being the first to win one of the two European qualifier rounds.
