OG punch their ticket to the DAC 2017 Grand Finals

The first DAC 2017 Grand Finalists have emerged. After the dust had settled, it was OG who was triumphant, besting iG 2:1 in the upper bracket finals.

Standing on the precipice of a spot in the Grand Finals, there was no margin for error as the top seeded teams locked horns.

Each squad played their hearts out to avoid a longer road to the grand finals. Both teams knew that fearsome opponents were waiting in the lower brackets - ones that would no doubt test their resolve and abilities.

It was little surprise OG that had taken the first seed in the group stage, dropping just one match during the entire phase. They then coasted through their upper bracket games on cruise control, taking a clean 2:0 sweep over Newbee.

Stepping into the upper bracket finals, iG were the first team to really test the limits of OG's lineup and push them to retool their approach and regain their focus. As seen time and time again, the Dream Green team displayed remarkable resilience, incredible cohesion and stand out plays - a testament to the multiple championship titles already under their collective belt.

Game One

The first match of the series was a fantastic clash of two different drafts.

Although Invictus Gaming planned fights out well, exercised patience and discipline as well as perfect positioning to create an incredible high ground defense they just couldn’t contend with OG’s impressive item builds. A really strong alchemist strategy with Anathan "ana" Pham handing out Aghanim's Scepters increased everyone’s networth and allowed them to move forward with unparalleled power and confidence.

iG died a slow death, being locked inside their base and unable to really take any fights outside the safety. They had no answer to OG’s relentless sieging ability and consistently used every resource to keep their heads above water.

After a successful defense of base created slight reprieve and opening for Invictus Gaming, the Chinese team went for a hail mary play, going straight down mid lane to OG’s base.

Unsuccessful in their siege, iG called GG, giving OG the first win.

Game Two

iG did not appear despondent at all after their first loss.

Zoning out heroes, creating space and abusing the map mobility of Monkey King helped iG to secure first blood and establish a strong laning stage.

Their fast paced aggression swept OG under the table with a 5:0 lead over the Europeans at 10 minutes.

Maximum farming efficiency and on point, rapid rotations in the early game yielded to a tremendous mid game for iG.

20 minutes in, iG pushed with confidence into OG base with some incredible plays, taking two sets of barracks, forcing buybacks and closing out the game only three minutes later.

Their forceful, lopsided win reset the series to an even score and forced a deciding game.

Game 3

Back and forth key moments  and incredible plays defined the intensity of this third match. Pushing out bottom heavily and then rotating to mid, iG took first blood as an attempt exert their dominance early on, but their opponents were not ready to lie down. OG’s rotation and impeccable decision making began to edge out iG’s initial lead, with Johan "N0tail" Sundstein's Song of the Siren on display, and overwhelmingly pivotal for OG’s success.

At this stage of the game, iG grappled with a way to buy time to look for an opening and make enough pick offs to carve their way back, but it wasn't enough to surmount the pressure and strength of OG, and the hometeam dropped the last match.

DAC 2017 Upper Bracket finals OG vs Invictus Gaming results: OG 2:1 Invictus Gaming.
