Dota 2 Asia Championship 2017 groups drawing took place last night, with Perfect World making a big step forward in Dota 2 history by live streaming the whole process.
The DAC 2017 group stages will kick off Monday, March 27, with a killer series betwwen OG vs Wings Gaming as the triple Major Champions and the TI 6 winners were both drawn in Group A. The opening match of Group B will be a Chinese brawl between Newbee and iG Vitality, followed by a NA showdown between Evil Geniuses and NP. Besides having both of the NA representatives, group B also features the two Invictus Gaming squads, fighting against each other for one of the top two places that will grant them an upper bracket start into the main event.
A total of 12 series/24 matches will be played through the first day of the group stage, six from Group A and six from Group B, and the schedule will remain the same for the second day. On the third and last day of the group stage we will be left with only six series, at the end of which we will know the main event seeding.
The top two teams from each group will be heading into the upper bracket while the bottom four from each group will start from the lower bracket, a dangerous place to be, because the first round here is a best-of-one elimination match. The DAC 2017 main event will commence on the 1st of April when four teams will be leaving the competition, all the lower bracket first round matches being scheduled to take place on the big stage of the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center on the opening day.
