Days after they got invited to the Kiev Major, Ad Finem announce they are set to part ways with their Dota 2 team.
According to a short announcement made via the Ad Finem facebook page, the five players decided not to renew their contracts with the organization.
No other details were given, but close sources of the team told GosuGamers that the five Greek players are already discussing terms with other organizations. However, nothing is sure as of yet, an announcement regarding the new home of the Boston Major runners up being expected rather soon. The team manager, Mike 'Madao' Chatzialexiou has already confirmed on twitter that he will stick with the boys and will continue to be their manager.
Ad Finem’s official statement:
What’s almost certain is that despite the fact that the Panathinaikos AC announced last year in December that they are building an eSports division with teams for Dota 2, CS:Go, LoL, Fifa and StarCraft, the ex-Ad Finem boys will not join them. In fact, Ad Finem as an organization have had some negotiations going on with the Greek club last year but it didn’t lead to an agreement.
According to our sources, the Dota 2 team lead by Giorgos 'SsaSpartan' Giannakopoulos is very likely to join an eSports organization familiar to Dota 2 fans.
The departure of the entire team from the Ad Finem organization will not affect their direct invite to the Kiev Major in any way as long as the five players stick together. According to the Valve rules, a team is free to change their sponsor/organization after the roster lock date, such decisions being determined by the arrangement between the players and the organization”
