Team Liquid and B)ears move forward in the European Qualifiers for DAC

Another two days into DAC’s European Qualifiers and we have two teams already sitting at the top and two teams eliminated.

Group A

B)ears vs Natus Vincere

After Natus Vincere managed to upset Team Secret and claim a spot in the upper bracket finals, they would have their work cut out if they wanted to take down B)ears. After a very closely contested first game, which saw Na’Vi making constant attempts to come back into the game, B)ears manages to close it out and claim the victory. The secret to their success was definitely the Timbersaw pick as he managed to always hold back the Ukrainians, giving the B)ears team tons of space, even after they looked to be on the back foot once or twice.

Game two would see Na’Vi actually claim a really great lead in the earlier moments of the game, but the power of a Lifestealer and Slardar infest combination and the Queen of Pain on B)ears was just too much for Na’Vi to deal with. Even though, once again they put up a solid defense, their opponents were just too strong, which left Na’Vi in the lower bracket final for group A.

With this victory, B)ears secured their spot at the top of the group and ensured their movement forward into the play-off stage.

Ad Finem vs Team Secret

Both these teams looked fairly equal on paper, but when it came down to the games, Team Secret seemed to have a greater appetite for victory. In game one, even though AF chose a really strong line-up, Team Secret were always one step ahead of them, turning teamfights around constantly, with quick and decisive teleports from their team and Puppey playing a relentless Slardar.

Game two went down in pretty much the exact same manner as the first in the series. This time Secret moved from the previous Drow strategy to one revolving around a Sniper and once again they seemed to constantly have the upper hand. As Team Secret claimed a 2-0 victory they booked their spot to face off against Natus Vincere tomorrow, in hopes of redeeming themselves after they were beaten in the opening game.

For Ad Finem, unfortunately, their DAC journey would end here,as they finished at the bottom of Group A.

Group B

Cloud 9 vs Team Liquid

Team Liquid dominated game one of the series, breezing passed the line-up of Cloud 9. Game two though, would be a different story as C9 took the early game completely away from TL, utilising a Meepo pick to continually make kills across the map and give C9 a fairly good lead. C9 were first to push high-ground and dropped two lanes of barracks, but Liquid began their fight back and managed to sneak through and claimed mega creeps with the power of Tiny. With mega creeps beating down on their tier four towers, C9 had no chance and were dropped into the lower bracket final of Group B.

For Team Liquid, the win secured first position in Group B for them and a definite place in the play-off stages.

NiP vs Alliance

Game one would see an absolutely dominating performance from Ninjas in Pyjamas as they closed out the game in twenty-eight minutes, sporting a near 1000 gold per minute Alchemist. Alliance fought back in game two, with the very similar performance to NiP’s in game one. While NiP were able to defend a lot longer, but Alliance starved them of kills and meticulously dismantled their opponent and tied the series.

Game three, the decider, would see Alliance taking a big lead and put NiP on the back foot. By thirty minutes the game looked to be completely in the bag for the Swedes, as they hunted for kills continuously with their Slardar/Lifestealer combination, but NiP did not allow this domination to get to them as they managed to defend and fight back. However, it was a little too late for NiP as Alliance rolled over them and eliminated them from the DAC EU qualifiers.

With their victory, Alliance kept themselves alive for another day, but tomorrow we will see if they can make it through to the play-offs as they play against Cloud 9.

Tomorrow in the European Qualifiers we will see which two teams will join Team Liquid and B)ears in the play-off stages and which two teams would be eliminated.
