Heavy DDoS attacks gets Virtus Pro eliminated from DAC qualifiers

The main favorites for qualifying at the $500,000 Dota 2 Asia Championships 2017, Virtus Pro, went through a lot of technical troubles these days and were prevented from playing in both of their group series.

Virtus.Pro bootcamped for DAC 2017 in Krasnodar, a small city in the North Caucasus region of Russia and despite the team’s efforts of keeping their location a secret, they still have been victims of DDoS attacks. In the first day of CIS qualifiers, on February 3, VP tweeted that the Internet is down in their part of the city and they received a default loss against Effect (ex-!Rebeless) after all the waiting time expired.

Following the disastrous day, VP’s General Manager, Roman Dvoryankin gave a statement on the organization’s official website in which he said “Today's situation that occurred in the first game of the DAC qualifiers is unacceptable for an organization like Virtus.pro. Until such things happen all the discussions about "a new level", "a serious approach" and so on are just meaningless talks. I would like to apologize to our fans and organizers of the tournament. We have made proper conclusions and will take steps in the near future “

However, the team could not relocate in just one day and when they had to face LQ  in the loser’s finals they were again not able to play properly due to internet issues. In the end, the CIS powerhouse team received another default loss and were eliminated from DAC 2017 qualifiers.

According to Roman Dvoryankin, tomorrow, February 7 at 12:00 CET we should expect a post from the team managerial staff to explain the entire situation.

With VP eliminated, Effect took the group A lead and advanced into the qualifiers playoffs. Team Spirit and LQ will face each other tomorrow in the loser’s finals for another shot at the double elimination playoffs bracket.

In group B, Empire already secured the playoffs stage by taking down Vega Squadron in winner’s finals. Vega will fight for the second spot into the playoffs tomorrow, at 15:00 CET against Comanche.

Loser's finals schedule:

February 7, 12:00 CET Team Spirit vs LQ ( group A)
February 7, 15:00 CET Vega Squadron vs Comanche (Group B)
