Let’s take a glimpse at how the situation looks for the CIS region after the first two days of the DAC qualifiers.
With a rather difficult format and many games to play, the DAC 2017 qualifiers go at a fast pace due to the splitting of the teams into two groups. Four regions of two groups each compete in a GSL double elimination format playing Bo3 matches, with two teams from each group advancing to the playoffs.
The battle for supremacy in the CIS region takes place between eight strong teams which try to earn a spot for the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2017.
Group A
The first match of the group was between Virtus.Pro and Effect. Unfortunately for Virtus.Pro fans, the match ended quickly because of some technical problems on VP’s side and Effect got a free win. After just 17 minutes of the first game, VP suffered a blackout and couldn’t reconnect in time.
The second match was between Team Spirit and L.Q. This series was dominated by TS, who secured a 2-0 win over their opponents.
With these results, Effect and Team Spirit advanced into the winner’s bracket final while Virtus.Pro and LQ will have to fight for their lives in the loser’s bracket.
Group B
In the first confrontation of the group, Vega Squadron defeated Comanche in a very balanced series with a score of 2-1. The games were characterized by excellent execution and well-fought battles for both sides, but in the end, Vega managed to secure the win. Even after the match ended, the casters were asking themselves who was the better team.
With a better draft and execution, Team Empire won the second series of the group with a score of 2-1 against F.R.I.E.N.D.S. All three games were spectacular and very entertaining.
After these two matches, Vega Squadron will meet Team Empire in the winner’s bracket while Comanche will have to face Friends in the loser’s bracket.
