The StarLadder i-league StarSeries Season 3 qualifiers in the American region are set to finish with an exciting best-of-one tiebreaker between NP and Digital Chaos, tiebreaker that will decide who is going to attend the $300,000 main event and who will have to watch the tournament from home.
Digital Chaos and NP opened the brawl in the American qualifiers for SL i-league #3. On the 24th of January they played each other for the first time and could not have foreseen back then that their 1-1 score will come to haunt them ten days later.
After their starting series, both NP and DC had an almost perfect run through the entire group stage save for compLexity Gaming who gave them a run for their money. coL managed to snatch a game from both NP and DC, the last game of the group stage from yesterday, coL vs NP being the one that forced the tiebreaker. The series held last night between coL and NP was reckless, both games being played at a very fast pace. Game one was won by NP in under 30 minutes on the back of a super aggressive KotL during the lane stage, played by Avery 'SVG' Silverman, and a very good team fight controller in Jacky 'EternaLEnVy' Mao’s Invoker.
But, in spite of their convincing win in the first game of the series, NP lost game two, being slightly out drafted and outplayed by coL’s captain Kyle 'melonzz' Freedman. The Underlord-Luna-Silencer combo played by compLexity proved to be unstoppable and NP were forced to defend high ground only 15 minutes in, without having a Radiance on their Alchemist. NP lost two set of barracks before the mid-game started and they were forced to admit defeat.
Before last night’s series, DC were the group leaders with 17 points, accumulated from five wins and two draw scores (1-1 vs NP and 1-1 vs coL). NP was right behind them with 16 points and the one game taken from compLexity is just what EnvY’s team needed to challenge the qualifying spot to the StarLadder i-league StarSeries main event.
Digital Chaos vs NP tiebreaker will be played tonight, February 3 at 19:30 EST/ 01:30 CET. It’s going to be a bo1 in which we should not expect mind games and trial drafts but serious business and a beautiful, hard fought game that for sure nobody shall miss.
