Team Secret advance to the semi-finals at DotA Pit Season 5

After EG made their way into the semi-finals, Team Secret and Digital Chaos would go head-to-head to determine who would join them there

Game One

Roaming all across the map and living up to his name by snagging bounty runes left and right, the first successful gank that Rasmus 'Misery' Filipsen's Bounty Hunter was able to execute was a joint skirmish towards the mid-lane where they were able to get first blood on Zheng 'MidOne' Yeik Nai's Ember Spirit. DC seemed to come out on top of the laning stage, able to secure farm on their cores. However, even though it cannot be expected from a BH lineup, Secret was always on top of the kills - which profited Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov's Silencer with the added intelligence. However, DC were able to transform their pickoffs into objectives and had claimed all tier-one towers 15 minutes in.

A teamfight took place around the Roshan Pit at about twenty minutes into the game, and DC were able to claim the Aegis onto Aliwi 'w33' Omar's Invoker before Secret arrived. The Shadow Demon seemed to be the perfect support pick for DC as he was able to combo perfectly with w33, who timed his EMPs perfectly with Disruption and was able to follow up with high damage output.

But a decisive fight close to the Radiant top Shrine as DC tried to take it down became the turning point for Secret as they were able to not only kill w33 twice but team wipe the the Dire side. Another teamfight close to the Dire Top bounty rune again demonstrated the strength of the Global Silence on the side of Team Secret, which couldn’t even be dealt with by w33’s ten-minute BKB. Secret’s teamfight just seemed to be way stronger than that of DC, especially with the magic damage output from Ember Spirit.

Hungry for objectives, DC tried to push towards the bottom lane again but the sheer strength of Team Secret’s cores made it impossible for them to siege and they had to retreat with a few casualties. DC’s tower advantage seemed to be nothing, as Team Secret were able to walk down middle lane and casually claimed the melee barracks. The Luna seemed too strong for DC to deal with, as she sieged the rest of the outer towers along with her team.

Without a way back into the game in sight, DC had no choice but to throw in the towel, calling GG and giving game one to Team Secret.

Game Two

After MidOne played really well to deny DC the first blood initially, DC found his Outworld Devourer roaming to grab the rune and claimed their first blood just under five minutes in. With just over ten minutes passed both DC and Secret had removed two tier one towers from the map and DC enjoyed a single kill lead over the Radiant. DC continued to pressure the map with Roman 'Resolut1on' Fominok on the Terrorblade as he dropped a tier two tower in the bottom lane.

DC continued to dominate the game and just after twenty minutes they claimed an aegis for Resolut1on. The game looked the complete opposite from the first as Secret could not cope with DC’s teamfight composition, constantly losing fights across the map. From around thirty minutes, both teams started looking toward the Rosh pit again, but neither wanted to start it up. But DC find an initiation and Resolut1on’s Terrorblade tore through Secret’s line-up and claimed the aegis again.

With the aegis in hand, the Dire side pushed the high ground bottom lane, dropped the tier three tower and the melee barracks along with three kills claimed. The game looked all but over for Team Secret as DC dropped the mid lane barracks. With forty minutes passed, Secret could not hold the game against the power of the Terrorblade and called GG, tying up the series at 1-1.

Game Three

In just under two minutes Secret managed to claim first blood along with a courier snipe as they used a dual mid lane to completely push w33’s Ursa away from the lane. Secret continued to gain an advantage in the early game, going up 5-1 in just seven minutes. DC were given no chance to claim objectives as the Radiant rotated constantly and thwarted any attack initiative from their opponents. But DC made space for their Naga Siren to farm up a sacred relic as the radiance was picked up.

But Secret weren’t about to let their lead go that easily and as twenty minutes passed they moved high ground mid and dropped the tier three tower before they backed out. In a massive fight inside the Dire base, Secret took down many of the DC line-up, forcing out buy-backs and claiming the mid barracks. DC looked to go for a smoke play to claim anything that they could but once again, Team Secret were ready and ripped through them. With a 24-2 lead on the score line, Secret looked poised to take the series.

With just short of thirty minutes passed, DC had no choice but to call GG as Team Secret destroyed them in game three. This meant that Team Secret claimed the series 2-1.

The next match-up sees Digital Chaos facing Team Faceless in a best-of-one elimination match, where the winner will proceed forward in DotA Pit League Season 5, and the loser will be going home. Shortly after this match will be the semi-final, where EG will take on Team Secret for a spot in the Winner's Final against OG.
