Ad Finem are in the Boston Major grand finals

The underdog story is still being written in Boston as Ad Finem eliminated Digital Chaos to claim the grand finals spot next to OG.

Game One

Ad Finem had the first pick advantage for the first draft of the series and chose to go with a Rubick opener and developed a team fight oriented lineup that was revealed only with their last pick, an Enigma for the team captain Giorgos 'SsaSpartan' Giannakopoulos. Digital Chaos, who were perhaps inclined to believe that the Greeks were going to emphasize the pick offs game due to early showing of the infest bomb combo, went with a heavy healing support duo, namely Warlock and Undying and beefy cores, Dragon Knight and Morphling.

Focused on securing the farm for their cores and preventing Ad Finem’s early aggression, DC didn’t contest Enigma’s jungle farm at all and that came back to bite them with the first rotation from SsaSpartan. Despite the fact that DC expected him to make a move and even scanned and warded the cliff near the bottom lane tier one tower on the Dire side, SsaSpartan still took them by surprise by making a long walk via the Radiant jungle and won the first team engagement with the first Black Hole of the game.

With that first big team fight going all the way in Ad Finem’s favor, the Greek boys started their fearless "run at them" game, leaving no time for DC to farm their Morphling or to get some key BkB’s to be able to team fight properly. As the high ground push was still a challenge, the Greeks made sure they always had the Aegis advantage and took the victory after Enigma finished a Lotus Orb that was placed on the Lifestealer in order to prevent DC to Lasso him too deep into the base.

Game Two

One step away from the Boston Major grand finals, Ad finem opened with Verros 'Maybe Next Time' Apostolos signature Bounty Hunter and focused on shutting down Aliwi 'w33' Omar’ Windranger with a dual mid Sniper-Ogre Magi. Digital Chaos tried to counter Ad Finem’s fast pace game with an aggressive trilane but unfortunately for them the laning phase didn’t go in their favor at all. The Bloodlusted Sniper kept pressuring w33 in the mid lane, Omar 'Madara' Dabachach had no problem in getting his farm secured against the safe lane Tidehunter while Kharis 'SkyLark' Zafeiriou avoided all DC’s attempts of catching him on the wrong foot.

With Madara having almost uncontested farm on the Timbersaw, Ad Finem was able to start the five man push early in the game and once again cornered DC in their own base before the 20 minute mark. Although the North-American team put all their efforts in defending their tier two and tier three towers and had David 'MoonMeander' Tan landing three-four men Ravages , Ad Finem turned around every team fight and claimed their spot in the grand finals in less than 30 minutes.

At their first ever Valve event, Ad Finem will face in the grand finals OG, two times Major Champions.
