Digital Chaos: Underdogs or favourites?

Introduction

Digital Chaos was founded in the aftermath of TI5 featuring a number of NA players who were teamless, such as Sam ‘BuLba’ Sosale and the surprise release from Evil Geniuses, Kurtis ‘Aui_2000’ Ling. After a number of poor results that saw them fail to qualify for the Frankfurt Major, a number of changes took place, most notably Roman ‘Resolut1on’ Fominok leaving Team Empire and the CIS region as a whole to join DC. Despite the changes, the team still failed to qualify for any LAN events until the org announced BuLba and Aui_2000 had left the team to rejoin EG.

Despite the near dissolution of the team, Digital Chaos came out of the Spring Reshuffle as one of the best teams in the NA region, picking up former Team Secret members Aliwi ‘W33haa’ Omar and Rasmus ‘MiSeRy’ Filipsen along with Martin ‘Saksa’ Sazdov and former Team Archon member Moo. After a lowly 9-12th place finish at the Manilla Major, the team stuck with each other and earned themselves a spot at The Summit 5, finishing in 5-6th place and then qualified for The International 2016 by beating Complexity in qualifier finals. In a fairytale like run through the main event lower bracket, DC reached the grand finals of TI6 but lost the battle for the Aegis to Wings Gaming.

2016 Fall Season Digital Chaos roster:

Ukraine Roman ‘Resolut1ion’ Fominok
Romania Aliwi ‘W33haa’ Omar
Canada David ‘MoonMeander’ Tan
Macedonia Martin ‘Saksa’ Sazdov
Denmark Rasmus ‘MiSeRy’ Filipsen

Post-Shuffle achievements and expectations

Since the shuffle, the world has not seen a whole lot of DC, with the team competing in only two competitions, The Summit 6 and Elimination Mode 2.0, finishing in 5-6th place and 4th place. It would be unfair to judge the team when they have only competed in one offline tournament, but it would be fair to say the team still has high expectations going into Boston after replacing one solid offlaner with another. The relatively average performances in recent weeks could very easily be attributed to rustiness and fans of the team will be hoping for another good showing at the major.

DC in numbers:

Overall winrate: 41% in 17 matches
Winrate on Radiant: 50% in 12 matches
Winrate on Dire: 20% in 5 matches

Digital Chaos favour picking good roaming supports early on in drafts with Keeper of the Light and Earth Spirit both being picked up along with a strong laning support in Warlock. W33haa’s Invoker is also a favourite, whilst their Mirana has a 100% winrate in recent games. The style of the team is cause chaos in the offlane, ensuring Resolut1on has a great time farming his lane on a more farm heavy core such as an Anti-Mage, Sven or a Luna.
