Less than 48 before the event is set to kick off, the Boston Major groups and pairings have been announced.
Although initially announced to run from the 3rd to the 4th of December, the group stage has been extended one day and will now last through the 5th. The 16 participating teams have been split in four groups of four and will be playing in a GSL, BO3 format.
The groups can be found in the Featured section of the Dota 2 Watch menu in the client, but unfortunately there is no official information on the extended day displayed in-game. As for the importance of the group stage, according to Wykrhm Reddy, the winner of each group will get to pick their first adversaries in the main event from the fourth place finishers of another group.
The groups themselves look quite interesting, but the NA fans will find it a bit odd to have compLexity Gaming and Evil Geniuses paired for the first series in group C.

The Boston Major group stage will commence this weekend on the 3rd of December at 10:00 EST. On the 7th of December the 16 teams will start their single-elimination main event battle at the Wang Theater in Boston, Massachusetts.
