Elimination Mode is back with the 2.0 edition

Moonduck is happy to announce the return of their unconventional online tournament, Elimination Mode with a doubled prize pool, top notch teams and community votes for the banned heroes.

After the great success of Elimination Mode 1.0 from September last year, Moonduck raised the prize pool from $10,000 to $20,000 , changed the format from a single elimination bracket to a double elimination, secured a mix of four NA teams and four European ones, and it's ready to kick off on the 1st of November.

Elimination Mode 2.0 participants:

United States Evil Geniuses
United States compLexity Gaming
United States Digital Chaos
United States Team NP
Europe Team Liquid
Romania Kaipi
Europe OG
Europe Escape Gaming

If you are not familiar with what the Elimination mode tournament is, Moonduck explained it in detail in their official announcement for the new edition:

It’s a game mode where heroes can only be picked or banned once per series. Teams will draft through a custom web interface that keeps track of which heroes were used from game to game. Even in this meta where most heroes are viable, expect to see strange combinations and unconventional lanes when series make it to game 3.

Additionally, once the tournament will start, each day the community will be able to vote 10 heroes that will be immediately banned for every match in that particular day. The first poll will be posted about 36 hours before the event begins. This means that with the Elimination Mode tournament we will get to see the pros playing heroes like Arc Warden and Pitlord and we will for sure witness some crazy and completely unorthodox drafts.

Elimination Mode 2.0 prize pool distribution:

1st place: $10,000
2nd place: $6,000
3rd place: $2,000
4th place: $2,000

Elimination Mode 1.0 grand final was held between Digital Chaos and 4Clover & Lepricon with 4C&L taking the victory. In the meantime the European squad 4C&L doesn’t exist anymore but one member of the roster at that time, Martin 'Saksa' Sazdov is now playing at Digital Chaos and that makes him the only Elimination Mode returning champion.

The entire event will be streamed on the MoonduckTV Twitch Channel.
