The Boston Major regional qualifiers will kick off tomorrow, October 27 with a best of one round robin group stage.
Each of the four regions will start the road to Boston Major in best of one round robin group stage at the Regional Qualifiers. All the teams from a region will play each other over the course of two days, October 27 and 28, with the top four from each group advancing in a double elimination playoffs bracket. The top two teams from each region playoffs will qualify for the Boston Major.
The round robin group stage format into a double elimination bracket is something new to Valve’s Majors, with all the previous three events featuring two groups of five teams per region. However, the decision is understandable as this time each region has a different number of participants. In the Americas regional qualifiers there will be only eight teams fighting for the two qualifying spots, while Europe and China have ten squads fighting. The South East Asia region had seven invited teams for regional qualifiers, making it to a total of nine squads after the open qualifiers.
On the 29th of October the top four teams from each region will start the playoffs stage where the two finalists from each region will be granted a spot into the Boston Major main event. The entire regional qualifiers English broadcast will be ensured by Beyond the Summit as follows:
