Ukrainian Cossacks pull out of the WESG

The Ukrainian Cossacks, a team consisting of mainly Vega Squadron players, has pulled out of the WESG European LAN qualifiers after earning a spot at the Regional Qualifiers LAN event.

Finishing second in the Ukrainian qualifiers for the event, the Ukrainian Cossacks achieved a spot in the European LAN qualifiers, which will be taking place from the 6th to 9th of October in Kiev, Ukraine. The Ukrainian Cossacks is a team formed for the WESG event and consists of all four Ukrainian players on Vega and Ilya 'ALOHADANCE' Korobkin.

In lieu of Ukrainian Cossacks, Ukrainian qualifiers third place finisher, Ne Rusb, will be playing at the LAN qualifiers. Ne Rusb was chosen as the replacement after winning a best-of-three 2-0 against 4th place team Anima Imperial. As such, Ne Rusb and Ukrainian qualifier first placer, Team Ukraine, will be representing Ukraine at the LAN event.

In an update on their website, Vega stated the reason for their withdrawal as deciding "to focus on practicing as a full team during boot camp in our team house." GosuGamers reached out to Vega for comment and was informed that both "the manager and players" decided to withdraw from the event, preferring to have more "time for training and preparation" in anticipation for future tournaments and the Major.

The WESG European LAN finals is the final qualification stage for European teams wishing to participate in the WESG main event. This qualification event will gather the 20 regional qualifier victors to determine the top eight who will represent Europe in the WESG main event, and the winners of the $75,000 prize pool allocated to the European final qualification stage.
