As every week, Workshop artists came out with brand new ideas to catch our attention and votes.
Don`t forget to vote the sets you like, to add them to your favorite list and to say a few nice things to the artist that managed to impress you. For them, your feedbacks mean a lot because in this way they can focus on something that players want.
Designed as a true protector of natures, with a relic standing out of his shoulder, this set suggests the self-sacrifice which Treant has for his peers. At the same time, the sword symbolizes the fact that he can become very aggressive if someone is stepping his territory.
The colors and textures are incredible well chosen and combined. The number of details are huge; you can distinguish every leaf and every rib. Amazing set submitted for Dota Pit 5 waiting for your votes and feedbacks !
The Hazhadal Magebreaker
Watching his progress in the last three years, I wanted to congratulate and ask Christian ‘ChiZ’ Gramnaes more details about his new Silencer set.
D: Hello ! We can see a huge progress between your last three Silencer sets, congratulations ! Can you tell us more about it, what inspired you to design it and, especially, why without a mouth?
ChiZ: This is my third Silencer set. I've been making one every year since I started out in the Workshop! Every time I've tried a different approach. This time, I was inspired by Dark Souls design philosophies. I know people like to compare a lot of my work to Dark Souls, but this is the first set I've made that's actually drawn inspiration from the series. I wanted to make him look a bit regal, powerful, but with a kind of strange and weary sadness you can't quite pinpoint at a glance. I drew from a lot of crusade era armor and outfit design, trying to give him a specific and unique look.
Why without a mouth? Simple. Silence! I've seen it done before. I mean in a way, Valve has done it as well with the immortal, but most representations are based on the in-game silence icon, and I feel like it's always come off a bit "on the nose.". I wanted to take the concept and make it a little more vague or mysterious. I wanted Silencer to embody a sort of ominous representation of silence, like if you saw him coming on the battlefield for the first time, you would first be unsettled before you realize what he can do to you, and then it makes sense.
Gravedigger Apparatus
A new set for Dazzle was submitted this week ! Keeping the mauve color tone, characteristic for this top support, the four artists that worked together to make something special, offered the set a bit of sparkle. With a big hat and an imposing tombstaff, this set depicts Dazzle as a wizard, ready to get you out of any trouble.
Those five set pieces are done very well with a lot of attention for any detail; from stitches to spot stains.
Whispering
Still without a face, according to his lore, Void has now a new five pieces set which it will be ready to equip if it manages to get in the Steam Market.
Whispering is a semi-armor proposed by ‘xtab’ which depicts Void as a gladiator meant to fight for the right to live. His mask covers a big part of his face offering an allure of fierce warrior while his staff gives to the feeling that he stolen it from a wizard so he can use his magical powers.
Auspicious Warrior
Another week, another set for Ogre. Fully equipped now, he is ready to join his allies in the battle. Graced with a divine quality known as Dumb Luck - a propensity for serendipitous strokes of fortune which have allowed the ogre race to flourish in spite of their enemies, harsh weather, and an inability to feed itself. It's as if the Goddess of Luck, filled with pity for the sadly inept species, has taken Ogre Magi under her wing.
Very colorful and dazzling, it`s quite impossible to overlook and it makes you look more closely at it. The masks of both Ogre`s heads are designed for some ancient warriors which came in contradiction with the rest of the set.
Windsong Set
Another set proposed by ‘xtab’ is for exquisite Windranger, a princess of natures. Her hair stands out from the beginning, her regular ponytail is replaced with a short haircut to which he added some small details that make everything. The mantle is made by a wolf fur and head and it suggests her allegiance to the wildlife and to the fact that she is a sort of Robin Hood in a feminine version. The bow and the quiver are also made by nature`s elements, combined perfect in the set.
Although the workshopper didn't get much out of the ordinary, these five pieces make Windsong one of the wild and beautiful sets that were submitted recently.
