WESG Russian qualifiers: One final battle to qualify

With two spots reserved for the Russian teams in the regional finals, the four teams remaining in the Russian qualifiers of the WESG are one series away from claiming it.

The four remaining teams are F5, FlipSid3FOR THE MOTHER RUSSIA (FTMR) and Comanche. On the 12th of September at 18:00 CEST, F5 will be facing FTMR, and Comanche will be facing FlipSid3 in best-of-three matches, the winners of the matches will be representing Russia at the regional LAN qualifiers in Kiev, Ukraine next month. After the winners of the Russian qualifiers are decided, a best-of-three series will be played between the two teams.

The members of the top four teams in the qualifiers have emerged from more than 30 teams by winning three best-of-ones over two days in the single elimination bracket. With so few teams remaining, quite a few well-known professional Russian players have been eliminated - Roman 'Scandal' Sadotenkov, playing for Team Russia, and Alexsander 'NoFear' Churochkin from friends are among those defeated. Team Russia and friends lost in the third stage to F5 and Comanche respectively.

Although some professionals have been eliminated, a significant amount survived the past two days. Familiar Russian players on the remaining teams include Roman 'RAMZES666' Kushnarev and Alexey 'Solo' Berezin on FTMR and Ilya 'IllidanSTR' Pevcaev on F5.

The World Electronic Sports Games is an eSports tournament that features several games, and among them is Dota2. The Dota2 portion of the event offers a $1.5 million prize pool, which will be fought over by the teams qualified for the main event. For the European qualifiers, the top teams of in various regional qualifiers will gather in Kiev, Ukraine from the 6th to 9th of October to determine the eight who will represent Europe and their country in the main event.
