After a successful Season 4 event, DotA Pit returns with League Season 5 to commence in early October.
DotA Pit League Season 4 was an amazing tournament where many teams found their form in the early parts of 2016 and it wracked up an almost $200,000 prize pool which included in-game cosmetic and ticket sales. Now, starting in early October, we’ll see teams battle it out to secure a spot in the DotA Pit League Season 5 tournament.
In Season 4, four teams were invited directly, while four qualified through open qualifiers and regional group stages, but this season will see only two teams receiving direct invites while another six will have to progress through the qualification bracket. The Open qualifications will begin in early October and be followed by the Regional group stages later in the month. The following regional spots are available:
2 EU teams
1 CIS team
1 SEA team
1 CN team
1 NA team
These teams, plus the two as yet unknown direct invites, will proceed through to the DotA Pit League Season 5 LAN event which will take place from January 19tt – 22nd 2017. The main event will see the teams battle it out in a double-elimination bracket style tournament as they attempt to claim the top spot and the prize money.
The prize pool will work like it has previously with a $125,000 base which will increase via sales of the G2A.com DotA Pit League Season 5 tournament chests and in-game tickets. More information about the qualifications and teams involved will be released in the next few weeks, so be sure to keep checking back for more on who will get the direct invites and which teams will be trying out their new rosters.
