Mafia has returned to the BTS house for The Town

Over 30 of your favourite DotA 2 personalities will come together at The Town, once again, to take each other down in an all-out bloodbath – in the fantastic social game of Mafia.

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Mafia, it is a fairly easy game to understand once you’ve watched it being played. It consists of anywhere up from 8 players and can take as much, or as little time as you may want it to. For The Town, each game will consist of 15 players and their “roles” will be randomised as follows:
3 Mafia
1 Cop
1 Medic
1 Vigilante
Each of the afore-mentioned roles has a special function that they can perform but there are boundaries to these actions too. All players except the mafia are considered town, and those without a role are neutral or mafia fodder. The game has a day and night phase, set by someone who is moderator. The object of the game for town is to root out the mafia before they “kill” off enough of the town to win. The way in which this is done is by interrogating the other players with questions and possibly guessing who might be town and who the mafia might be. Mafia, on the other hand, want to keep themselves hidden and get the ability to “lynch” 1 or 2 players every “night” phase. The game goes a lot deeper than this, with the roles coming into play too and you can follow the link to find out a bit more.

The Town will take place from August 19th – 21st at the Beyond The Summit house in Los Angeles – from 10:30am to 7:30pm PST daily – with an hour break in between for a special challenge. The times are perfect for those of us not in the United States who are still battling to return to a normal sleep schedule after The International 6 concluded last week.

The event sure to see some hilarious antics from the personalities involved, such as Jorien 'Sheever' van der Heijden, Owen 'ODPixel' Davies and Jake 'SirActionSlacks' Kanner, to name but a few, so tune in and enjoy the fun as they stream it directly to the BTS Twitch Channel.
