The International 6 now features the largest prize pool in eSports history

Valve has done it again, hosting the largest prize pool tournament ever as The International 6 has overtaken last year’s amount of $18,429,613. With three weeks of potential growth to go, can we break the $20m mark?

DotA 2 is once again going to host the largest prize pool tournament ever in The International 6 with a pot of ground breaking proportions. This is revolutionary for professional gamers and aspiring amateurs everywhere who can see the point to which competitive play can get them. Never before will rivalry be so intense when competing for a prize pool this size. No doubt as a consequence of the release of Immortal Treasure III, the International 6 prize pool spiked and now sits at a whopping $18.5m with much more still to follow. In comparison, last year at this time, the International's prize pool sat at a staggering $15.6M, a five million Dollars increase from TI4.

With the ‘Trust of the Benefactor’ awards, where every battle pass owner will receive 3 of these treasures which offer a chance to receive a 2016 immortal treasure, a random hero set, an arcana set or an ultra rare chance at limited-run prizes, as well as the release of the Immortal 3 treasure the prize pool is sure to spike once more into the $19 Million mark any day now with still time to grow even further. The possibility of expanding beyond $20m is becoming all too real as the community invest into their beloved free to play game.
