VPGame are back with a second season of their VPGame Pro League, this time around the tournament will feature 16 teams and a $45,000 prize pool.
Taking place between the 20th and 31st of this month, the VPGame Pro League will feature 16 Chinese teams fighting for a $45,000 prize pool in a group stage playoff format. The group stage will see the 16 teams divided into two groups, the top four teams from each group will proceed to the playoffs.
The eight remaining teams will then be put into a double elimination bracket, the third and fourth place teams of both groups will battle in a best-of-one lower bracket match while the first and second teams will battle in a best-of-three upper bracket match. The grand finals will be best-of-five.
Prize pool distribution:
1st - $22,500
2nd - $12,000
3rd - $7,500
4th - $3,000
The VPGame Pro League returned with a season two after the success of their first season in April 2015, which had eight teams participating and a $24,500 prize pool. Sticking with the same invite trend, the organizers have invited weaker teams in the Chinese scene, hopefully assuaging the pre-The International tournament drought usually experienced by weaker teams.
