Almost a year after their formation, a year in which they trained hard and dedicated all their time to a common goal, Wings Gaming claim the first Chinese qualifier spot to this year’s International.
Wings and EHOME finished the best-of-one round robin group stage tied on seven points (seven wins - two losses) therefore they battled it out in a bo1 tiebreaker to decide who will grab the TI6 spot. Their first direct confrontation from the group stage also ended with Wings emerging victorious with a common pick for both games, a mid lane Mirana for Zhou 'bLink' Yang and a similar game strategy that emphasized early skirmishes and put a lot of faith in pick off potential.
AlthoughWings went with a very successful Huskar carry and closed the match under 30 minutes for their group stage game, for the decisive tiebreaker with Seattle tickets on the table they chose to draft a position one Faceless Void combined with Witch Doctor for heavy team fight control. Everything went according to the plan for Wings who were able to cut through the innate tankiness of EHOME’s Lone Druid, Abbadon and also made sure to shut down early the slippery Slark while secured most of the kills under Mirana’s name.
Eventually the Aghanim's Scepter- Ethereal Blade from bLink, both finished fairly fast, proved to be too much to deal with and Wings sealed the deal in just 30 minutes.
For Wings this will be the first time they will participate at The International, however the first big LAN victory was secured by the young Chinese players only two months ago when they surprised everyone with the 3-0 sweep through Team Liquid at ESL One Manila.
EHOME will have another shot at qualifying to TI6, via the double elimination bracket scheduled to kick off at 04:00 CEST/ 10:00 SGT with EHOME taking on Vici Gaming. Winner of the double elimination playoffs bracket will secure the second qualifier spot available, runners up will advance to Wild Card competition.
