After a rather early elimination in the first series of SEA open qualifiers for The International 6, TnC seal the deal with the second attempt.
Their slayers from the first round, Rex Regum Qeon have also made it to top 16 but this time their journey was stopped in the quarterfinals by Beyond Infinity, an Indian team that actually made it to the grand finals.
Beyond Infinity are quite the surprise in the SEA bracket, as better established organizations like Mineski-X or MVP Hot.6ix were expected to fight in the final act of the open qualifiers. However, BI defeated everyone around and after a 2-0 victory in the semifinals but they couldn’t keep the pace with the much more experienced TnC players. Although it started on the wrong foot for TnC who gave the first blood and a second kill to BI at the first rune spawn timer, the first game ended in only 23 minutes. Marc Polo Luis 'Raven' Fausto on Terrorblade finished the game six slotted despite the short duration of the game, after a very dominant presence of his hero along with Carlo 'Kuku' Palad’s Timbersaw.
The second game was also a quite one sided story for TnC who will now join the other nine teams in the regional qualifiers. Regional qualifiers are played in a bit of a different format than previous years, and will feature two stages. Firstly, all teams will play each other in a best of one round robin group stage round where the first place finishers will secure their ticket for the main event.
After the group stage is over, the teams placed from second to fifth position will advance in a double elimination playoffs bracket. Winners are also qualified for TI 6 while the runners up will advance to the Wild Card competition.
The regional qualifiers for South East Asia will kick off on June 25th, at 04:00 CEST with Fnatic facing TnC.
