ESL One Frankfurt 2016 Group B Recap

The second group of ESL One Frankfurt saw the only two game best of three games, both played by OG.

Group B’s matches would be; OG vs Na’Vi, compLexity vs VP and lastly, OG vs compLexity Gaming.

The first series saw Natus Vincere going up against OG, the winners of the Manila Major. After a very strange game one where Na’Vi picked up a Troll Warlord and Shadow Demon and lost, game two would see them going back to the normal picks of the meta. But even with that, OG showed why they are such a dominating force in the current period and took Na’Vi down 2-0.

Next up was coL vs Virtus Pro, which would see another full three game series for the day as compLexity Gaming took down VP. The second game in the series, after coL took the first, would see a rather strange line up coming out for coL as they drafted a Chen and Necropos alongside an Ursa. This could possibly have been something they were just trying out but it cost them the second game. However, game three was theirs to take and as they did, they dropped VP to the elimination bracket. VP willl go up against Na’Vi tomorrow, and will have Alohadance back as he was able to obtain his Visa in time to arrive later this evening.

The final series of the day would be coL vs OG. After a hard fought game one, OG managed to march through the coL line up with ease, even claiming a Rampage on the Juggernaut of Miracle. Game two went pretty much the same way as OG seemed to absolutely outplay coL at every turn. OG took the series 2-0 and will now move forward into the winners bracket for the main event. compLexity will meet the winner of the first elimination game between Na’Vi and VP and attempt to stay in the event.

Tomorrow's games will begin at around 10:30am CEST with the Group A elimination game being played first.
