One more regional qualifier round at The Summit 5 ended last night with Digital Chaos claiming the NA spot for the tournament.
The Summit LAN events are one of a kind in the big sea of tournaments, making the desire to secure a participation spot for the teams enlisted in the regional qualifiers even greater. In the NA region none of the teams that reached the second qualifier round have experienced any of The Summit events so far which made the competition even more exciting.
First to reach the upper bracket finals are compLexity Gaming, who didn’t lose a single game up to the final act. They were joined by the lower bracket sole survivors, Digital Chaos. DC were knocked down in the losers bracket in their first game series against Shazam, but managed to stomp their adversaries with clear 2-0 victories to make their way into the best of five grand finals.
The grand finals were played at a very fast pace, with all the five games ending around the 30 minute mark despite the late game drafts. The series started with coL taking the first game victory but went to DC’s favor who took game two and three on the back of pushing lineups with Shadow Shaman and a mid Jakiro. It was compLexity who pushed the series into a decisive game five with a well executed Drow Ranger strategy but couldn’t survive DC’s last draft which was extremely gank oriented. Clinkz, Lion, Clockwerk, and Invoker, all sustained by Sun Ray were the heroes that allowed Digital Chaos to qualify at The Summit 5.
Regional qualifiers are still rolling with European and South East Asia matches where Virtus.Pro are in the grand finals waiting for their opponent to be decided. The SEA grand finals are set to take place tomorrow, May 28th, at 12:00 CEST with Fnatic and MVP Phoenix fighting each other for one qualifier spot.
