Epicenter: Moscow - Day 3 round up

Another grueling day of DotA 2 games at Epicenter: Moscow comes to a close after six teams had battled it out in an attempt to secure an upper bracket spot at the main event, beginning tomorrow.

With the main event of Epicenter: Moscow coming our way tomorrow, Newbee and Team Liquid have already secured their positions in the upper bracket, with the remaining teams looking to secure their own positions or facing the drop down and battling their way through the lower bracket.

The first game of the day saw compLexity Gaming going head to head with Alliance. The obvious favourites for this game were Alliance, making their presence felt again after a period of poor form, and they showed exactly why they are the powerhouse team we’ve always known, dominating coL in two games. This meant that coL were the first team to enter the lower bracket of the playoffs.

Team Secret were up next, taking on Virtus.Pro. After a really easy game one, it seemed as though Secret were set for a series win, but an amazing sequence of games in what was a very hard fought series saw VP come out the victors. Meticulous game play and out-drafting on the side of VP helped them overturn Secret’s 1-0 lead and take the series 2-1, dropping Secret to the lower bracket.

The third game saw OG taking on the winners of the first series of the day, Alliance. From the start of the first game it was clear that OG were in the driver’s seat, absolutely dominating Alliance. After taking the first game, OG looked to secure an upper bracket slot in the main event – and after a fifty minute game two, they found themselves securing that position, dropping Alliance to the lower bracket.

In the final series of the day Evil Geniuses went face to face with Virtus.Pro. After an amazing, and unexpected first game, VP managed to go up 1-0 in the series but EG couldn't be counted out and mounted a comeback, taking the next game. The deciding match of the series saw EG absolutely destroy VP, as the Russians seemed to be a bit perplexed after the previous loss. Even though they lost, VP have shown that they are not to be underestimated and will be massive contenders for the top spot, even though they'll be running in from the lower bracket.

Tomorrow sees the upper bracket teams facing off and attempting to maintain an easy run through to the finals.
