Vega Squadron delivers the upsets at Captain’s Draft 3.0 sending Alliance into the lower bracket.
Game One
For the first game of the series Vega Squadron drafted a line up specialized in counter initiation and great chasing capability, making impossible for Alliance to fight on their terms. It was Alliance’s choice to drag the game into a late stage, avoiding Vega as much as possible but they lost the battle to a better farmed Pavel "9pashaebashu" Khvastunov and Alexey "SoloLineAbuse" Berezindamage damage at that point.
Game Two
Game 2 started in Alliance’s favor with a first blood secured followed by a couple of other kills before the starting horn. The laning phase went smooth for Jonathan "Loda" Berg but the flow of the game changed with Noone’s rotation into the top lane where he secured a triple kill on his name
Vega knew how to be one step ahead of Alliance baiting them into fights were they had the numbers advantage. Although Alliance’s teamfight potential was insane Vega managed to out play the Swedes and targeted Gustav "S4" Magnusson all the time to delay his blink dagger as much as possible. After a successful Rosh fight Vega was ready to make an all in high ground push and took the series with a clean 2-0 victory.
Vega Squadron vs Alliance highlights
This marks the first loss of Alliance since Starladder|i-League. To survive in the Captain’s Draft competition they will have to defeat Team Liquid in the lower bracket.
While Vega Squadron and Evil Geniuses have reached the semifinals and will face each other tomorrow, February 15th at 21:00 CET, two teams have already been eliminated from the tournament.
Virtus.Pro got defeated by Mamas Boys who used Dominik "Black^" Reitmeier and the recently departed from the team Alaan "SexyBamboe" Faraj as stand ins while Digital Chaos lost the first lower bracket round to Team Liquid.
