MDL Winter: Newbee Eliminated, LGD stands tall

LGD eliminate Newbee 2-1 in an intense best of 3 series to advance in the lower bracket of the playoffs at the Mars Dota 2 League

Game One

In the opening game of the best of three series, both Newbee and LGD looked pretty good draft wise but it felt like LGD had much better late game with solid damage output, vision advantage and good AOE spells.

The game lacked any early aggression as both the teams failed to secure an early first blood and were constantly farming. The first kill of the game came during the thirteenth minute from Newbee. Chen 'Hao' Zhihao on his Lifestealer managed to harass by cutting lanes with an infested Black Dragon. Failing to complete objectives Newbee started to fall back slowly as the Gyrocopter and Queen of Pain were able to find some quick kills and fast farm. The game escalated quickly in favour of LGD as they were able to get some favourable team fights and a quick Roshan. LGD found themselves way ahead of Newbee with solid gold and experience lead. Lu 'Maybe' Yao on his Queen of Pain pulled of a captivating performance with ten kills and no deaths. The vision advantage from the Night Stalker also helped the Tidehunter in getting some clutch ravages. Eventually Newbee succumbed to the intense pressure from LGD giving them a 1-0 lead in the first game of the lower bracket elimination series.

Game Two

A game away from elimination, Newbee came out all guns blazing. Even though it seemed like LGD had the better draft with heroes like Night Stalker, Razor and Slark, Newbee perfectly executed the ganks and kept getting regular pick offs with the Slardar and Invoker. With heavy armor reduction spells from heroes like Vengeful Spirit and Slardar, Newbee was able to get kills with ease.

Chen 'Hao' Zhihao on his Weaver managed to farm a lot completing a sixteen minute Linkens and later the desolator to add more pain to the misery of LGD. Zhang ‘Mu’ Pan who completed the necronomicon on the Invoker along with the Chen played by Wong 'ChuaN' Hock were able to push the lanes pressuring LGD to defend. Failing to find farm on both cores, Slark and Razor, LGD were unable to defend against the heavily farmed Newbee cores pushing the series into a decisive game three.

Game Three

In the most important game for both team, Newbee and LGD were fighting for a spot in the next round of the lower bracket in the playoffs. LGD with a strong team fight and push based lineup clearly outdrafted Newbee.

Liu 'Sylar' Jiajun who is known for playing heroes like Lone Druid and Lycan played proficiently once again getting a good amount of farm along with the Gyrocopter. Both teams got early pickoffs  but after a point of time, the amount of DPS from LGD was too much too handle for Newbee. With the vision advantage from the Night Stalker, LGD made use of the smoke ganks making sure they would land a kill or two. Liang 'DDC' Faming on his witch doctor got some spot on Death Wards which dealt a lot of damage and putting Newbee in a precarious situation.

LGD took advantage of their push nd gpotential got early towers. After the aegis pick up, LGD advanced into Newbee’s base. The Earthshaker and Batrider did get some good ultimate’s down, but it was in vain. LGD clearly outplayed their Chinese counterparts Newbee in the third game and successfully advanced in the lower bracket.

LGD will be facing Evil Geniuses later today who were successful in eliminating Vici Gaming in the first series of the day.
