EHOME faced off against Newbee.Young in the Best-of-one elimination match in the lower bracket on the first day of the Frankfurt Major main event.
Newbee.Young’s draft revolved around a carry Leshrac that seemed a little out of the blue for the current patch since it was nerfed hard in the last patch. They also picked Shadow Fiend which is one of Sccc’s best heroes. Whereas EHOME’s lineup was more traditional with Old Chicken on Viper, eLeVeN’s Clockwerk, and Cty’s Queen of Pain.
EHOME’s Bounty Hunter proved to be a huge problem for Newbee.Y, helping EHOME secure two kills and a courier before six minutes, but that was when the true bloodbath began. After Bounty Hunter killed off the courier Newbee.Y attempted to secure their own neutral stack but EHOME suddenly invaded their jungle with five heroes which secured three kills for QoP. After this EHOME began to take full advantage of their extremely farmed QoP and snowball into another team wipe in the middle lane.
With the Track gold of BH, EHOME was able to accumulate a much larger gold advantage, helping Cty purchase an early Orchid which secured a Rampage 15 minutes into the game. After this it seemed like Newbee.Y could not leap over the huge obstacle that was QoP’s burst damage in team fights. Every time they pulled ahead slightly, they had no answers for a Black King Bar QoP that would Blink into their faces. From 20 minutes onwards, Newbee.Y’s movement was restrained in their base. 35 minutes in, EHOME once again team wiped Newbee.Y with an overwhelming item advantage and destroyed the first set of barracks.
Although Newbee.Y killed off Viper and Clockwerk in return, it seemed like their defeat was imminent. Three minutes after, EHOME marched into the Radiant jungle and once again team wiped Newbee.Y. EHOME takes this game and Newbee.Young was eliminated from the Frankfurt Major.
Although Newbee.Y was among the first teams to be eliminated from the tournament, their performance at their first LAN event was more than satisfactory, even taking one game from Team Secret in the group stages. Hopefully we will see Newbee.Y soon in another LAN event, and congratulations to EHOME for advancing.
