A completely different story from day one was written for Evil Geniuses today, who had a very intense match versus Vici Gaming and a stomp that brought them the most needed three points.
Game 1
The first game of the series started very good for Vici Gaming who were extremely dominant through the early - mid game and they achieved that without Hao, who's Anti Mage obviously spent a lot of time just farming. But if there is a team that knows when and how to bounce back, EG must be it.
Around the 25 minute mark things changed dramatically in EG’s favor as they managed to wipe the entire VG lineup which lead to a huge gold and experience swing on the graphs. From then on the game turned into a continuous back and forth five man DotA , a very dangerous type of game that had a fair chance to turn ugly for EG considering the fact that VG was running an Anti-Mage and a Leshrac while EG was relying only on Fear’s Gyrocopter.
But good item choices on Aui_2000’s Bounty Hunter who rushed a Scythe of Vyse and incredible plays coming from ppd’s Winter Wyvern kept the North American squad alive up to the point where VG’s scary combos Tusk –Lina / Tusk - Lion became ineffective.
50 minutes into the game VG decided it was high time they tried a five man high ground push in which they managed to take down only the tier three mid tower, getting wiped entirely by EG. One minute later it was EG who actually took down the first set of racks retreating with no major casualties. For the next ten minutes the back and forth teamfights resumed but no buildings were touched.
Unfortunately for Vici Gaming, Hao's Anti Mage was caught with his blink on cooldown by Suma1L’s Storm Spirit and although his entire team jumped to help him, EG won the most important team fight of the game and four minutes later they managed to take down VG’s base forcing the GG call.
Game 2
In the second game Vici Gaming got seriously outdrafted as ppd chose to play what seemed to be more of a pocket strategy. Allowing VG to pick Bounty Hunter he responded with a hard counter pick namely Spirit Breaker which everyone supposed will be played by Universe. But a surprise Enchantress came online and that was the offlane hero.
The Spirit Breaker support played by Aui_2000 counter pick worked as a charm as FY’s Bounty Hunter couldn't roam at all and in fact he set up a new negative record in competitive Dota as he is the first BH with 0 kills 0 assists in 27 minutes, the time needed for EG to close the game and secure their first 2-0 victory.
