ROOT Gaming have claimed Beyond the Summit Americas tournament’s $4,500 prize by defeating Summer's Rift in the grand finals with a 3-1 final score.
The first game of the series belonged to ROOT Gaming entirely, Moo’s offlane Tusk being extremely active, getting plenty of kills in the early game while DeMoN’s Bounty Hunter failed to secure any sort of advantage for Summer’s Rift.
Therefore, the second game opened with a Tusk first ban coming from Summer’s Rift and continued with a classic four protect one strategy for them, with two heavy control supports Naga Siren and Disruptor to ensure YawaR’s Anti-Mage safe laning farm while they opt for the teamfight oriented Magnus in the mid position. But they repeatedly failed to deliver the dream wombo -combo that these heroes can provide and in the end the victory can be attributed to Yawar’s Anti Mage plays entirely.
For the third game of the series ROOT tried to trap Summer’s Rift with a Zeus first pick and the bait worked perfectly as Rift immediately responded with Bloodseeker and Techies bans. Even so, ROOT coupled the Zeus with very high spell damage supports like Skywrath Mage and Earthshaker and they managed to take a fast win over their opponents.
Being one step away from losing the grand finals, Summer’s Rift went for a desperate move with a carry Naga Siren pick in the fourth game of the night. The game developed, as expected, into a very late one which in theory should have favored DeMoN’s team. But once the timer passed over 80 minutes Summer’s Rift faced a huge problem, namely Fluffnstuff on his support Jakiro who managed to outfarm Brax’s core Razor. The game became extremely intense and it is safe to say that the victory could have gone either way. However, ROOT Gaming managed to chip their enemy structures bit by bit and they finally got the mega creeps after 30 minutes of hard Liquid Fire work.
