KeyTV to host Nanyang Championship in Singapore

KeyTV, an eSport Content Producer based in Shanghai, China with a heavy focus on event hosting, has announced that they will be hosting a major Dota 2 tournament from October 26th to November 1st in Singapore.

The news was first teased by Orrin Xu, KeyTV Business Development Manager, on Twitter stating something exciting will be coming to Singapore. Sporting the user name @LGDnite, many assumed that LGD will sponsor a Singaporean team but the "awesome" news turned out to be an event instead.

Not much info has been announced about the tournament except for an event date but considering the tournament is placed in a high density period, it is likely that it will boast a massive prize pool to attract 10 world class teams. With a picture of Suntec City Convention Centre in the background of their website, we can safely assume that the tournament will be held there.

KeyTV's move to host a tournament in Singapore is the first time a Chinese eSports company is venturing out of their scene into the untapped market of South East Asia. While the rest of the world has moved on, the forgotten region is still stuck in the unsustainable pre-2013 business model that damages the scene.

The first LAN tournament in SEA to go past the $100,000 mark was Fallout Gaming's tournament Major All Stars, hosted on 20-22 March 2015. However, organizers' hard-headed approach to the tournament led to a complete shut down on day one and an unpleasant experience for the teams and the fans. Many felt cheated.

With a list of major tournaments under their resume, KeyTV will undoubtedly make sure the event will run smoothly.
