MarsTV announces dates for next Dota 2 League

After running a successful event last month, MarsTV announced on their Facebook that they will be hosting their next installment of the MarsTV Dota 2 League on January 27-31 next year.

The early announcement of the tournament came as quite the surprise to many but it is highly possible that it was made to ensure that it will not clash with any other Dota 2 events like the prior did with MLG X-Games.

Apart from a date, not much information were given in MarsTV's announcement except that the tournament will once again be a battle between the eastern teams and the western teams. MarsTV also promised that they will be sporting a new format and several surprises that the fans would enjoy.

"Last season was a successful event judging by the feedback we received from both the community and the teams to the point that many believe MarsTV Dota 2 League is the best tournament China has to offer," MarsTV wrote in their announcement.

The last season of MarsTV Dota 2 League ran from the 3rd of June to the 8th of June. Boasting a prize pool of $337,000, MarsTV attracted the attention of many top teams to compete in this tournament. In fact, the line-up of the tournament was so stacked that all the teams participating will compete in The International 5 next month. However, it was Team Secret who walked away with the title of MarsTV Dota 2 League champion after they edged out Team Empire in the grand final. The win is also Secret's third consecutive major title since early May.
