With over 50 days to go until The International 5, the prize pool of Valve's annual Dota 2 tournament has breached the $13 million Dollar mark to unlock the Bristleback announcer pack.
The quick increase in the prize pool is courtesy of the release of The Collector's Cache on June 4. The Collector's Cache is a chest that is sold at $1.99 which upon unlocking, will release one of the eleven beautifully crafted hero sets. On top of that, individuals who try their luck at The Collector's Cache also stand a 1 in 250 chance to unlock the Faceless Rex courier.
The prize pool increase spiked and increased by $867,344 within 24 hours and stayed on the $200,000 threshold daily until yesterday. With the release of the Immortal Treasure III still to come, it is with confidence that Valve can say their tournament this year will breach their targeted $15 million Dollars.
The next milestone is $14 million Dollars and this time, Valve will be unleashing some new weather effects.
