EHOME, Wings, EP and CDEC remaining in TI5 China qualifier

The second day of the China qualifier for The International 2015 has ended with both groups concluded and the four finalist confirmed. The focus was heavy on Group B on day two as the top two of group A had more or less been decided yesterday.

There were three crucial games in Group B earlier today, mainly revolving around CDEC, HyperGloryTeam, and open qualifier winner Wings. The first match between the trio was a duel between CDEC and HGT. Projected to finish the groupstage strong, HGT lost both their games and pushed their position in the standings even further down after tying Vici Gaming Potential the day before. CDEC win against HGT solidified CDEC in the poll position in group B.

The second duel, also the most important match of group B, was between CDEC and Wings. Considering both CDEC and Wings are firmly in the lead, HGT needed Wings to lose so that HGT could beat them later to take second position. Things went smoothly for HGT as CDEC outclassed Wings slowly and steadily in both games to secure their third win and the winner bracket spot in the playoffs.

Courtesy of CDEC's victory, HGT had one last chance to continue their road to The International 5; to beat Wings in both games and finish second. However, ZSMJ and crew could not capitalize on their fortune and lost their first game against the open qualifier winners. The second favourite to win the tournament was eliminated but hung on to play a pointless second game against Wings; in which they won.

Now that the groupstage is concluded, there are four teams remaining in the Chinese qualifier. The top placers of the groups (EHOME and CDEC) will be duking it out in the winner bracket of the playoffs while the second placers (Energy Pacemaker and Wings) will be fighting for survival in the lower bracket.

Day 3 schedule:

08:00 - EHOME vs CDEC
11:00 - Energy PaceMaker vs Wings Gaming

Best moment of the day: 5 man Team Fight, CDEC Teamwiped

Game of the day: CDEC vs Wings game 2

The second game of the match-up between CDEC and Wings was packed with some of the biggest turn-arounds we have seen in the China qualifier so far.

Starting out the game on a fairly even scale, both teams played conservatively throughout the game. The real story of the game came near the end game when Wings was desperately trying to brute-force their way into CDEC's base after fending off waves after waves of super creeps marching down two of their lanes. Following their Roshan kill at 70 minutes, Wings took on CDEC at CDEC's base and after a series of buybacks from both side, Wings walked off taking down the middle melee barracks. Wings continued applying pressure and taking the fight to CDEC despite their shortages and finally, lost a big one at 75 minutes. With all their members dead or incapable to fight, Wings could not defend against the Phantom Lancer who teleported directly into Wings' base via the creeps to end the game.
