Yet another million has been conquered by The International 5's prize pool which means that the prize pool for the event now totals up to $9 million. The $9 million prize pool unlocks the Wyvern Hatchling courier stretch goal.
It has only been 24 days since the release of The International 5's compendium and as of the 25th of May, reflecting the success of TI4's compendium, the TI5 compendium has added a staggering $7.4 million to the base prize pool of $1.6 million. The achievement of the prize pool hitting the $9 million mark also unlocks a new stretch goal, the Wyvern Hatchling courier. The next stretch goal will be the third immortal treasure at $10,000,000.
There has been a drastic slow down in the rate of growth for the TI5 prize pool, it is slower than the rate of growth for TI4's prize pool this time last year. However, with the release second immortal treasure nearing, it is likely that the prize pool growth will spike when it is released; similar to the $700,000 prize pool growth spike caused by the TI4 immortal release last year. With this being said, it is likely that the prize pool growth for TI5 will see two spikes due to the release of the second and third immortals later in the coming weeks. These increases combined with about 60 days remaining till the main event will most likely cause the TI5 prize pool to overtake that of TI4's and achieve Valve's goal of a $15 million prize pool.
