The VPGame LAN finals will be taking place today at Hangzhou, China. It will feature the two finalist of this two week, all Chinese, USD24 500 prize pool tournament.
Hangzhou, China will be the location for one of the rarer LAN final match ups in the Chinese scene, featuring LGD vs Vici Gaming. The two teams will be fighting over their stake in the tournament's USD 24 500 prize pool. Before entering the game, both teams have a 2-2 record against each other in the past month, with the latest win going to LGD, 2-0 in the winner bracket final of this tournament.
Looking at recent performances, LGD are on fire, crushing nearly every team they face but Invictus Gaming, a team they have a history of struggling with, having only won one out of the four best-of-three matches against them. Even though they struggle against IG, Zhang 'Xiao8' Ning and his boys can still walk into the game confidently with their 11-1 win loss and recent 2-0 win against VG.
At the other corner, there is Vici Gaming, the world's second best team according to Gosurankings. Vici Gaming has been destroying top Chinese teams like iG and EHOME, defeating them 3-0 and 2-0 respectively. However, VG seems to struggle against LGD, having a 2-2 record against them, relatively bad compared to their records against other top Chinese teams such as their 6-1 record against IG. They will be going into the LAN final eager to take revenge against LGD who knocked them into the lower brackets.
The stakes of every match and tournament is getting higher and higher with the top Chinese teams all trying to prove they are worthy of a TI5 invite; with the TI5 invitations suspected to go out in early May, winning a best-of-five against one of the top contenders for a TI5 invite will definitely be favorable towards getting a TI5 direct invite.
