Following last months departure of their main roster Virtus Pro have picked up ASUS.Polar as their main squad and given the roster their fourth name since August last year.
For one of the top professional Dota 2 teams in the world the Polar roster has never been able to hold down a name. Only eight months since the team was originally formed they have moved from NVMI, VP.Polar, ASUS.Polar and now Virtus Pro. Following the organizations decision last month to drop their main roster, Virtus Pro have decided to award ASUS.Polar's recent success with a new name change. The team has secured qualification for ESL One Frankfurt, Dota Pit S3 and Esportal over the last couple of months and are currently eighth in the world according to GosuRankings.
The team was originally formed in August 2014 as NVMI with a roster that included former-players Artur 'Goblak' Kostenko and Andrey 'Afoninje' Afonin. The teams success in the StarLadder Season X qualifiers and victory over Natus Vincere in the Game Show League in September 2014 saw Virtus Pro pick up the roster as their second team. Virtus Pro.Polar were born and continued their success with top four finishes in the Excellent Moscow Cup 2, DreamLeague Season 2 and Dota Pit League. But roster changes have been a big factor for this team, with Roman 'Scandal' Sadotenkov and Goblak departing the team before the end of the year. But the arrival of captain Artem 'fng' Barshak from Natus Vincere was a key transfer for the progression of the team. 2015 brought another name change as Virtus Pro looked to move the roster away from the Virtus Pro brand and allow other sponsors to support the team. But now, with the arrival of former-Virtus Pro player Sergey 'God' Bragin and reserve player Vadim 'Sedoy' Musorin following the departure of Andrew 'Mag' Chipenko, Virtus Pro have returned to reclaim the roster.
