NiP win the Esportal Invitational Qualifier 3

Power Rangers were involved in another five game final but the Belarusians fall at the final hurdle for a second time as Swedish team Ninjas in Pyjamas secure their chance to compete in front of their home nation at Esportal.

The third Invitational Qualifier for the Stockholm based LAN finals has come to an end and it was Ninjas in Pyjamas who fought hard to join Hellraisers, Team Empire, mYinsanity and ASUS.Polar in the Esportal finals later this year. They met Power Rangers in the final, who came out looking for revenge over their loss in the previous qualifier. They lost 3-2 against ASUS.Polar last month and unfortunately have fallen to the same fate to Ninjas in Pyjamas.

The final was a dramatic back and forth battle, with each team taking a game in turns. Ninjas in Pyjamas took the opening round, only for Power Rangers to battle to the end in the second game to even the series. The Swedes dominated the third game 14-0, only for Power Rangers to find a way to win the fourth game. In the same position they were against ASUS.Polar, Power Rangers failed to secure that final game and fail to qualify for the event after coming so close yet again.

To get to this point, Power Rangers had to fend off Virtus Pro during major disruption and lengthy pauses from what seemed to be severe DDOS attacks. In the final game in the best-of-three and after all their allowed pauses had ran out, Power Rangers were forced to play with disconnecting team mates. But they were able to find a way back into the game and secured an inspired victory to reach their second qualifier final.

In the bottom of the bracket Ninjas in Pyjamas had to take out their own countrymen in a battle with Alliance. This game followed suit and went to a final game. Alliance were making their third appearance in the semi-final stage of the qualifiers and it was a third failure after Ninjas in Pyjamas dominated the third and final game to move into the final.

Three places remain for the Esportal LAN finals, but the format seems to be constantly evolving. The third Open Qualifier is scheduled to take place, but the final two qualifiers are no longer known. It was previously announced that there would be two Ladder Qualifiers, but we will have to wait and see what Esportal will attempt next.
