StarLadder XI: Chinese playoffs set to begin

The league matches of the Chinese division are over and the results leave us with four teams going into the regional playoffs. The next stage begins today with the first round of matches.

The group stage of the Chinese qualifiers drew to a close yesterday with four teams, Vici Gaming, LGD, CDEC and Invictus Gaming, making it to the next round. The teams will now play a Best-of-3's double elimination bracket to compete for the two qualifier slots for the LAN finals at Cyberarena in Kiev, Ukraine from January 15th to 18th. The finalists of both lower bracket and upper bracket will make the cut. The format of the qualifiers are same as the last season when Newbee and Vici Gaming qualified but neither managed to attend the finals. While Vici Gaming is still in the mix for this season, Newbee had opted out from the beginning.

The results of the round robin were fairly expected with Vici Gaming taking the top of table with just one loss. Three other teams finished joint second with a 4-3 scoreline. LGD and IG both looked rusty on occasions giving up matches to less prominent teams. CDEC on the other hand did not fail to impress and continued with their good form and will take on Vici Gaming today at 09.00 CET. Later IG will be up against LGD at 12.30 CET.
