Update: Newbee pulls out of D2L, replaced by Team DK

Following a no show in last night's D2L match against HGT, Newbee is reported to have pulled out of the D2L. The TI4 champions are not the first team to turn down the event as TI4 runner-ups Vici Gaming have also declined a participation prior to the event. Newbee will be replaced by Team DK.

-UPDATE-

Newbee has posted an official statement on their Weibo, saying that the reasons for their withdrawl from the D2L tournament are that Newbee wants to focus on "more important" tournaments and that the travel costs to the D2L LAN would be too high - the same reason why Vici Gaming is not participating in the event. The International 2014 winners Newbee seem to be backing out of quite a few bigger tournaments this year. Starting off with having passport issues when it came to the Excellent Moscow Cup, some rumors about them dropping out of Starladder and now word that they won't be participating the Dota 2 League. It would be a disappointing chain of events for the D2L, as Newbee was supposed to play a match yesterday against HGT and did not show, receiving a default loss.

Newbee isn't the first team to leave the D2L though, Vici Gaming was originally invited aswell and chose to decline the invitation from the start. Their statement reads that VG's players were exhausted from the amount of tournaments played and that their previous participation was rather disappointing due to lackluster accomodation payments.

Newbee has yet to release an official statement regarding the matter, as well as D2L. Reaching out to the D2L admins though, GosuGamers has been told that the new Team DK will take over Newbee's slot in the Eastern division.
