EG and C9 withdraw from Battle Arena

League administrators of the Battle Arena have announced that Evil Geniuses and Cloud 9 have officially withdrawn from playing their semi-final match.

At 21:00 CET today, Cloud 9 were scheduled to play Evil Geniuses in the Battle Arena of the DotA 2 Champions League. However, 14 hours before the game time, managers from both teams notified the league administration that they are withdrawing from participation in the Battle Arena.

In an official statement from Battle Arena, the league administrators said that, “teams have informed us that they don't accept some of Battle Arena terms and therefore refuse to participate. Dreamz Media administration have contacted Evil Geniuses chief to solve the issue, but due to the time zone difference it was impossible to find a solution.”

The teams were supposed to play in the second semi-final of the tournament after confirming their attendance on August 14. Battle Arena added that, “Unfortunately, liabilities taken by organizers make it close to impossible to postpone this match to a later date. This moment we are contacting other teams and offering them to substitute Cloud9 and EG in the 2nd semi-final of Battle Arena.”

Both teams have made roster changes since they last played at TI4 and were supposed to debut these players tonight. Fans of EG who wanted to see the return of Fear and fans of C9 who wanted to see how Fata fitted into the line-up in the absence of SingSing, will have to wait until a later date.

The first game of tonight’s Battle Arena will be the semi-final match between Na’Vi and Virtus.Pro.
