Newbee are through to the Grand Final after a great run yesterday, sending ViCi Gaming and Evil Geniuses down to the Lower Bracket. Today we will see four matches of the Lower Bracket as well as the All Star Match that was voted for in the Compendium.
The competition will be fierce in this section of the tournament, as all the Lower Bracket teams will have to go through several obstacles to grab the precious second Grand Final spot. For the first LB round, two best-of-three matches will be played between the four teams that were placed in the bracket by the third phase of the playoffs. Na'Vi and Cloud9 will fight for the chance to play against ViCi Gaming, while the two Chinese rivals iG and LGD will attempt to advance and face DK.
The winners of the second round matches will battle for the ticket to the LB final against Evil Geniuses, who were defeated by NewBee yesterday and failed to secure the $1,5 million second place prize. The victor of the LB final will advance to the Grand Finals and face NewBee in the best-of-five series. It should also be reminded that any team that loses today will be eliminated from the tournament.
There is everything to play for today, as all the teams are determined for a chance to make it to that match with EG. However, saying they all have their work cut out for them would be an understatement. It may be the Lower Bracket of a tournament, but this is no ordinary tournament. Some of the most fearful squads in the world will be fighting for the fortune and glory that comes with the Aegis of Champions.
Along with the four LB matches, the All-Star match will be played today with the ten players that were voted through the Compendium. Team XBOCT and team rOtk will make sure to keep the crowd and their fans entertained with exciting picks and interesting strategies!
