Newbee is the first team to reach the Grand Finals of The International 4, after a 2-0 victory against EG. Along with their spot in the final battle, they have secured at least $1,500,000.
NewBee is a team that really turned a nightmarish start into a dream run. After flirting with elimination during the group phase, they just about made it into the tiebreakers where they suddenly seemed stronger as they dispatched out of Mousesports and LGD. They went through and into the second bubble race bracket with the lowest seed but came out with the highest seed. And today they continued their dominion as they beat both Vici Gaming and Evil Geniuses. As a result of two matches today, they have secured themselves at least $1,400,000 and will be awaiting whichever teams comes out alive from the lower bracket.
Game One
00:00 - The draft has started.
00:00 - The draft has concluded. Evil Geniuses went for Arteezy's Naga Siren, along with their favourites Mirana, Tidehunter and Sand King. Newbee selected Lifestealer once again today, with Death Prophet and Doom completing the list of their core heroes.
3:00 - Hao and Banana attempt to dive to kill Arteezy, but the courier delivers the bottle just in time to save his life. Arteezy goes for the kill against Banana, but Hao saves his mate.
4:36 - FIRST BLOOD - Mu grabs a solo kill against UNiVeRsE's Tidehunter under the Dire bottom tier-one tower.
8:00 - Hao forces Arteezy's Song of the Siren, and xiao8 comes from behind and instantly dooms the Naga. Arteezy manages to survive long enough to deny himself in the Roshan pit, as his teammates find a kill on SanSheng's Earthshaker.
10:20 - Hao's Lifestealer gets caught inside the Radiant jungle and dies for the first time in the game. The score is now 2-2.
11:30 - Using Ravage and Primal Split, mason and UNiVeRsE take down Hao, but Arteezy dies solo against the Death Prophet at the top lane.
14:00 - Newbee assault EG's mid lane, and both the tier-one and tier-two towers go down. PPD is caught out of posiiton and slain as well. Arteezy takes down his opponents' top tier-one tower in return. (3200 gold on him currently)
18:00 - The Chinese destroy the two top outer towers without meeting any resistance. EG takes down the mid tier-one tower in return, but they show that they do not want to fight before Arteezy's Radiance.
19:00 - Hao and xiao8 jump on Arteezy, taking him down for the third time just as he completes his Radiance.
21:00 - A gank against xiao8 goes wrong and Zai gets killed, while Arteezy goes down once again to Hao and SanSheng.
23:00 - Newbee aims to demolish the bottom tier-two tower, and they force a teamfight. Arteezy gets Doomed and dies for the fifth time, but the Ravage - Epicenter combination by the Americans causes the death of three.
25:00 - A miscalculation by Mu results in his death near the Dire mid tier-three, with Banana getting caught by a Sacred Arrow as well. Xiao8 and Hao snipe Arteezy yet again.
28:00 - Arteezy gets murdered for the seventh time inside the Dire jungle! Mu uses Silence to interrupt the Song of the Siren as Hao bursts him down.
29:00 - Newbee marches inside the enemy base, and UNiVeRsE initiates with Ravage. Newbee's heroes are just too tanky and they fight back, killing two heroes including the Naga Siren. The middle barracks go down as well.
33:00 - Newbee visits the Rosh pit, and the Aegis goes to Hao.
34:00 - The Chinese attempt to destroy the bottom barracks, but they get initiated upon once again. Arteezy gets doomed and instantly slain, forcing the buyback. Hao loses the Aegis to EG's nukes, and SanSheng gets burned to death by Naga's Radiance. The score is now 15-12 in favor of Newbee, but the bottom barracks are still standing.
38:00 - The Radiant heroes return to finish the job, but the Exorcism souls only manage to destroy the tier-three tower.Seconds later, Xiao8 is caught and slain inside his jungle.
42:00 - UNiVeRsE gets caught and brought down near Roshan, and Hao collects the Aegis once again. Arteezy's illusions have almost destroyed the Radiant top tier-three.
45:00 - Newbee makes one more effort to destroy the bottom barracks, and Arteezy instantly teleports outside the Radiant base to take down the top melee barracks. UNiVeRsE and Zai use their ultimates on the Chinese, instantly killing three heroes - the top melee barracks are still standing.
50:00 - Enough is enough! The Chinese run straight for the Ancient and take down the two tier-four towers, but EG answers with the Double Ravage - Epicenter combo. The result is a 4-2 fight in favor of the Americans, with Arteezy's Naga scoring a triple kill.
51:00 - It's over! Newbee's second attempt against the Ancient is successful, as mason's Brewmaster is immediately killed before he can disrupt his opponent's push. Mu's Refresher Orb allows him to unleash the double Exorcism, destroying the Dire Ancient in seconds.
Game Two
00:00 - The draft phase has started.
00:00 - The drafting is over. EG opts for a familiar dual-core lineup with Storm Spirit and Dragon Knight, while Newbee selected Spectre, Nature's Prophet, Doom and Brewmaster as their cores.
00:00 - FIRST BLOOD - PPD gets surrounded inside the Radiant jungle before the sound of the horn, and Hao grabs the first blood.
04:00 - Xiao8 overextends and gets solo killed by UNiVeRsE's Beastmaster.
05:00 - Mason assaults Newbee's bottom dual lane, but xiao8 teleports to help his teammates, resulting in the deaths of PPD and mason.
06:30 - Zai gets caught out of position and goes down near the Dire mid tier-one, Arteezy also barely escapes with his life.
08:00 - Yet another assault by Newbee and Arteezy goes down for the first time in the game. The Chinese are leading with 5-1, with Hao helping in four of these kills (2-0-2).
10:00 - The Chinese continue their offense against their enemy's mid towers, destroying the tier-one and severly damaging the tier-two. Zai and PPD get slain yet again, but UNiVeRsE takes down Banana in return.
14:00 - Newbee raids the first Roshan of the game, and the Aegis goes to Hao. The score is now 3-8 in favor of the Chinese.
17:00 - PPD and Arteezy go down once again. Hao just purchased a Blade of Alacrity so he will not be going for the Radiance build.
19:00 - The Radiant mid tier-two tower gets demolished at last - The Diffusal Blade is complete on Hao.
23:00 - EG attempts to use their strong pushing lineup to take down the bottom outer towers, and they manage to slay Banana's Doom in the process. However, Newbee's response with Chain Frost and Haunt causes the death of three heroes (including Mason and Arteezy), and the fight ends 3-1 in favor of Newbee.
26:00 - The Americans use the Smoke of Deceit to catch xiao8 and SanSheng, but Zai's Black Hole gets interrupted by Doom and Newbee turns the tides of the fight. The 3-2 engagement then allows Newbee to take yet another free Roshan.
32:00 - Newbee's players seem very confident now. Hao is 7-0 and getting close to his next big item after Manta and Diffusal blade, and EG's early strategy has fallen apart.
34:00 - The Chinese go for the middle barracks, and Hao gets slain for the first time in the game, losing the Aegis as well. Newbee's counter initiation brings the death of Zai, Arteezy and Mason, while Hao buybacks and returns to destroy the barracks for his team.
35:00 - GG! The final battle of the game takes place near the Roshan pit, with Hao using Haunt yet again to obliterate three enemy heroes! EG decides to forfeit the match, knowing they can no longer fight against such a farmed Spectre.
