Day 6 preview: Nine will become eight

Phase 3 - Pt. II of The International Dota 2 Championships 2014 is set to commence in a few hours time. Similar to Pt. I, another team will bow out of the competition and the total tally of teams qualifying for the main event at Key Arena will reduce from nine to eight.

Brace yourselves, for the second part of Phase 3 of The International Dota 2 Championships 2014 is set to go live in a few hours time. By the end of the day, the tally of nine teams will become eight as one more team will bow out of the competition and settle for a joint 9th/10th place.

In Pt. I of Phase 3, we saw LGD triumph over Team Liquid in straight games and hence restricted the wildcard winner from going to the main event Touted as "Chinese slayers" by the community, BuLba and company created an uproar during the groupstages wherein they defeated teams of high calibre like DK, Invictus Gaming and NewBee.

However, Team Liquid fell short when it came to LGD as they were unable to suppress Yao and company during both; the groupstage as well as the elimination phase. Liquid lost all of their games to LGD under 28 minutes, with the latter even steam-rolling over the former under 21 minutes in the round robin stage.

On the other end, Cloud9 had to struggle in the second round against LGD as the match stretched out to be a full three game series. EternalEnvy and company displayed no mercy as they catapulted over the Chinese team in an exhilirating series thereby proceeding to the final round.

However, it was DK's day as the Chinese giant completely out-manouvered C9 in straight games. Whilst the first game lasted for more than 45 minutes against an SingSing Meepo, the second game was short-lived and was the shortest game the tournament recorded so far, as C9 called out the 'GG' at the 11th minute. Thus, DK move on to the main event winner bracket while LGD and C9 start themselves from the loser bracket.

Moving forward, Phase 3 - Pt. II will see another four teams battling it out for supremacy. Titan will be pit against NewBee in the first game of the day, and as the loser of this game will bid adieu to his dream at this year's TI - one might understand the importance of this round.

The winner between Titan vs. NewBee will proceed to the second round where the consecutive finalists at all the previous TI's, Natus Vincere, eagerly await. Round 2 onwards, no team will be eliminated as the winner between Na'Vi vs. Titan/NewBee will fight for a winner bracket spot against Invictus Gaming at the main event, whilst the losers will drop down to the lower bracket and try to climb their way up the ladder from Key Arena.
