Malaysia's Ministry of Youth & Sports to sponsor local Dota 2 tournament

Malaysia's Ministry of Youth & Sports will be sponsoring a local Dota 2 tournament to be held this 23-25 May in Putrajaya, Malaysia. The International 4-bound team Arrow Gaming is among the four invited teams in this $3,100~ tournament.

A Malaysian local festivity called the Festival Belia will be the host to the Dota 2 Open Championship, a two-stage tournament sponsored by Malaysia's Ministry of Youth and Sports. This tournament is just one of the several gaming events, which includes a collegiate Dota 2 tournament and a CS:Go Competition.

The Dota 2 Open Championship will start this 23 May, and it will commence with an open tournament which will accommodate up to 32 teams. The top four teams from that will advance into the eight team playoffs with the four invited teams. The invited teams are Arrow Gaming, Orange eSports, Invasion and Nara Stacks. Titan, initially planned to be a part of this event, was not among the invited teams because of conflicts on their WPC-ACE schedule.

The prize pool is very generous especially when you consider its SEA tournament counterparts. 10,000 RM ($3,100~) will be divided across the top eight teams, with the winning team getting half ($1,550~) of it.

Malaysia's Ministry of Youth and Sports can be remembered last year when they recognized Orange eSports for their third place finish in The International 3. Orange eSports themselves are organizing this tournament.
