With a 3-1 victory against Scythe, Titan managed to win the gold in The Inaugural tournament. Their success has earned them $2,000 and a spot in the main Asian qualifiers of The Summit, while Scythe will go home with $1,000.
The action-packed tournament The Inaugural has just concluded. Several competitors from Southeast Asia and Korea were giving fierce battles for almost a month, hoping to get their hands on the $3,000 prize pool. The playoffs of The Inaugural took place this week, with Titan and Scythe reaching the best-of-five grand finals. In the end, Titan managed to take down their SEA rivals to secure the $2,000 first place finish, and a spot in the qualifiers of The Summit.
Titan used several different strategies for this feat. Despite possessing the better coordination and execution in this series, they seemed to struggle against Scythe when the game went past the 30th minute mark. Not willing to take such risk, they opted for two solid early game pushing line-ups for the third and fourth game, grabbing two quick and clean victories against the Singaporeans.
Despite their accomplishment in The Inaugural, the journey for the Malaysian team has just started. The Inaugural served as a pre-qualifier for a spot in the Asian main qualifier of The Summit, which features eight participants battling for the ticket to Los Angeles playoffs. Titan will be the only SEA member of the double elimination bracket, the other seven being Chinese. The squad that emerges victorious from the main qualifiers will join the invited Team DK in the offline event in June.
