Second installment of WD Pro Series starting tonight

With the first installment just finishing two days ago, WD Pro Series will proceed right into its second one tonight. Opening the tournament are matches Orange versus RRQ, to be followed by Arrow against Zephyr, starting at 15:00 CET (21:00 SGT) tonight.

While we are still fresh off Titan's win in the first series after defeating Arrow Gaming 3-1, we are already moving forward into the second installment of the WD Pro Series. Two matches are scheduled today, with RRQ and Orange opening the tournament at 15:00 CET (21:00 SGT) and then Zephyr and Arrow Gaming are scheduled to go head-to-head at at 16:00 CET (22:00 SGT). All the games aside from the finals will be best-of-three.

Orange is on a dry spell, having only one win in their last ten games. They will definitely be the underdogs tonight, as their opponent in the Indonesian team RRQ has been playing well lately. Included in their recent accomplishments is a second place finish at the AsianCyberGames best-of-the-best invitational not too long ago.

All eyes will be on Zephyr though, as they will have another chance to showcase their progress. It is expected to be a difficult match-up as they will go against one of the top Southeast Asian team and the runner-up of the previous cup, Arrow Gaming. Team Zephyr have been on one end of three official games against Southeast-Asian teams so far, against Titan, RRQ and Everlast, and has lost in all three of them. However, they have recently won the Korean Dota 2 League against MVP.Phoenix in dominating fashion. The latter, of course, fared well against SEA teams just this week after wins against teams Mineski and Orange.

The other two first round matches are set this coming 20 April, with Scythe going up against Mineski and defending champion Titan facing MiTH.Trust. Both of those matches are scheduled at 16:00 CET (22:00 SGT).

The WD Dota 2 Pro Series is a set eight-team, single-elimination tournaments called Pro Series. There are a total of four pro series, with the first three having a winner-takes-all $500 prize, and the last one having a pool of $1,500 with the champion taking $1,500. The same set of teams will be participating in all Pro Series.

Schedule for remaining Pro Series:

  • Series 2: 16 April - 25 April
  • Series 3: 26 April - 9 May
  • Series 4: 10 May - 25 May
