The four teams advancing to the Chinese regional playoffs for StarSeries Season IX have been decided, and the playoffs begin on Tuesday 18 March, at 08:00 CET.
After the last regular season playday of StarSeries China Season IX, the four teams moving on to the regional playoffs have been decided. They are: Invictus Gaming, NewBee, Team DK, and LGD.cn. The second-last match of the season determined the final standings, with DK's loss to a resurgent NewBee eliminating any chance of the possible three-way tie that many expected between LGD, NewBee and Vici Gaming. DK will progress, having both head-to-head wins over LGD and Vici, while LGD also holds the win over Vici Gaming.
Invictus Gaming will definitely look forward to extending their winning streak from the past week, having gone 7-0 in the qualifiers, while Team DK look shaky having lost their last three matches to iG, DreamTime, as well as NewBee.
Final Standings
The playoffs will be held in best of three series, with two series each day on 18 - 20 March, Tuesday - Thursday. Each Bo3 series will either begin at 08:00 CET or 12:00 CET, and will feature a double elimination format. Although the two top teams will qualify to attend the LAN finals in Kiev in April, the Grand Final will still be played, presumably for seeding purposes.
