The curse is broken - Evil Geniuses win Monster Energy Invitational

Evil Geniuses managed to win both their matches today, winning the Losers Bracket Final against Liquid and Grand Final against Cloud9 to secure themselves the first place of Monster Invitational.

Evil Geniuses were able to overcome both their obstacles today, taking down Team Liquid and Cloud9 respectively to get the gold in Monster Energy Invitational. With their victories, they earn themselves $10,000, while Cloud9 and Liquid will have to settle for $3000 and $2000 each.

Team Liquid fell relatively fast in the first game, with a 26 min GG coming out of FLUFF, giving a game advantage to Evil Geniuses. The second encounter lasted twice as long, with Team Liquid finally succumbing to the obscene damage coming out of Fear and Arteezy's 6-slotted hard carries and Zai's Familiars.

The Grand Final was a thriller, with Cloud9 bouncing back every time Evil Geniuses took a game. The fourth game was an impressive showcase of Cloud9's teamfight potential, taking the series to a fifth game with a blast. However, Evil Geniuses had an Ace in their sleeve, and they used an extremely strong early line-up with Weaver and Lycan supported by a middle trilane with Sand King, Crystal Maiden and Nyx Assassin. With DeMoN being quite careful during the earlier stages of the game and EternalEnvy having absolute free-farm, everyone thought that this game was going to be a stomp for Cloud9.  Nonetheless, EG grouped up very early, going on a rampage and killing Cloud9 everywhere on the map. Shadow Fiend and Luna just couldn't handle the huge damage coming out of EG, and got trapped inside their base. It was just a matter of time for Cloud9 to surrender.

With their victory, Evil Geniuses win their first LAN event with their new roster. This is the first LAN victory for Clinton 'Fear' Loomis, and Artour 'Arteezy' Babaev remains undefeated in offline tournaments.

Prize distribution :

1st - Evil Geniuses - $10,000
2nd - Cloud9 - $3,000
3rd - Team Liquid - $2,000
